How to Change System Administrators
Updated over a year ago

This article describes the process for swapping system administrators.

If you have more than one system administrator on your account, then one of your administrators can simply create a new system administrator user (or modify an existing standard user). Once the new system administrator user is created, the old system administrator user can now be deactivated (to disable access), if needed. On the other hand, if you have only one Rethink system administrator license on your account, then our support team can assist you with the transition. Both of these scenarios are explained below.

If you are unable to gain access to your Rethink org under the current System Administrator user (e.g. employee departure), please submit a support ticket to Support@buildout.com.

Scenario 1: You have more than one administrator license

For relatively smaller organizations (less than 30 users), we recommend that you have only one System Administrator at any given time. However, depending on the needs of your business, you may have more than one to help avoid any disruptions to business.

Create a new System Administrator user In Rethink:

1. Click Setup | Click Under 'Administration' | Click Users | Users.
2. Click New User, then enter your new User details.
3. In the 'Profile' field, select System Administrator.
4. Select Generate a new password and notify the user immediately.
5. Click Save.
6. Log out of Rethink (select your name | Logout)
7. Follow the steps in the email sent to the email address entered for your new admin user.
8. Log in to Rethink as the new System Administrator.

Scenario 2: You only have one administrator license

Our support team can help you with the transition when you have only one administrator license (and thus are unable to create a new admin user to replace the current one). Simply open a support ticket by emailing Support@buildout.com and our team will request a temporary administrator license from Salesforce Partner Support to complete the swap. This process usually takes a couple of business days.

Please reach out to Product Support (Support@buildout.com) if you have any questions about changing system administrators.
